Tribute to Junaid Jamshed: A person of Love and Affection

Iftikhar Islam: Tribute to Junaid Jamshed: A person of love and affection

 By: Iftikhar Islam

Seventh December 2016 was the last day Junaid Jamshed completed his earthly journey and passed to the world of ‘barzakh’. His tragic death not only shook the entire nation (of Pakistan) but also the world at large. He was an eminent pop-singer turned Islamic preacher who sacrificed his glamorous life and led simple life in the way of Allah. May Allah forgive his short comings and accept whatever he has done for the sake of Islam and grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous by His mercy. Aameen.

Leaving aside all the disagreements we have between us, I have noticed Junaid Jamshed to be very humble and a person who spreads love and affection in the society. These are the qualities to be found very rare in the person who belongs to the glamorous industries.

According to him, he has disconnected the phone call of his old school-friend many times thinking that this person may take much of his time, without even bothering about the person. However, when he became a practicing Muslim – through the same friend – he became so humble so that he forgives easily to even those who consider him to be his enemy.

It reminds me of the famous incident happened in the airport where people of different sect attacked and assaulted him. In turn he forgave them all, and asked his supporters to forgive them too, thinking that they are his own brethren in faith. In conversation with Nouman Ali Khan (Famous Pakistani Arabic teacher in USA), Junaid Jamshed said “Yaar Nouman Hamaare hi log hai kya kare?”

Junaid Jamshed had many projects for the betterment of the Muslim community, including starting of educational institutions for Muslims in western countries. Junaid bhai is no more. Let his projects go on and on.

There is a well-known quote of Dr. Bilal Philips saying “There is no time for holidays, when you realise how little time there is, and how much work has to be done for Islam” Junaid Jamshed had inculcated this quote in his life and strived hard to do much work for the Muslim Ummah in the limited time he had. He used to say to his friends that we have very less time and much more work to be done in the way of Allah.

Apart from many international figures appreciating him of the dedication for his work, love towards human beings, humbleness in his characters, there are much more lessons he has taught us even after his death.

Aamir Khan (a Bollywood star) said, “When I went to perform hajj, I had met him two-three times, I found him to be a very religious and humble person”

May Allah accept his work, forgive his sins and grant him the highest paradise – Jannat-ul-Firdous – as a neighbour of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Aameen . [full_width]
